Ashland - Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Took the first of our two annual trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival this last week.  We saw four shows in the three days we were there.  We went with our Irish Beach neighbor Paula and ran into many of our Sacramento friends, including Connie who introduced us to the festival some fifteen years ago.  The four shows we saw were:

The White Snake
Animal Crackers
SeaGull
Troilus and Cressida

Our next trip will be the second week of October where we stay longer and see more plays.

Hello Everybody!

I am safely in Singapore.  Singapore is interesting and HOT and HUMID. I don't think I've ever been so hot in my life. So that will take some getting used to. Yesterday, we went to this crazy resort island called Sentosa to have a look around. They have a Universal Studios out there. Everything on the island is ridiculously expensive, since it's a big tourist trap, so we ended up mostly just walking around. I also discovered that Singaporeans love to shop and there are malls everywhere. In some ways, it's very "developed" and "Western" here, but it's also very different. The vast majority of the population lives in government-sponsored housing, and everyone eats at "Hawkers," which are these big areas filled with food stands selling fresh fruit/Vietnamese/Thai/Chinese/Malay/Indonesian food etc.

Today, I leave for Hanoi. I will be there from today (Sunday) through Thursday. I'm gonna stay in a backpackers' hostel, so there will probably be internet. I will try to email you from there.

EXCITED!
