If the scorching forecast holds true, Sacramento could tie its second-longest streak of consecutive 100-degree days.
So far there have been five days in a row of 100-degree or hotter weather. The National Weather Service is forecasting more of the same through Thursday.
The all-time record is 11 days. That mark was set during the heat wave July 16-26 in 2006.
There have been four previous years when 9 days in a row of century mark readings were recorded: 1996, 1984, 1981 and 1996.
Here's Sacramento's readings so far this month, and the high predicted through the work week:
• Wednesday: 100
• Thursday: 104
• Friday: 105
• Saturday: 106
• Sunday: 104
• Forecast for today: 106
• Tuesday: 106
• Wednesday: 102
• Thursday: 102
