Susan and I liked it but Gary, Allen, Diane, and Karl did not. Afterwards we had a lively discussion about the national debt and other pressing matters.
F for Fake
…is the last major film
completed by Orson Welles, a twinkly-eyed meditation on fake, front and movie
make-believe. Through a combination of documentary and staged footage, Welles
attempts to illustrate the artifice behind all filmmaking, even that of a
supposedly non-fiction variety. Initially released in 1974, the documentary
focuses on Elmyr de Hory's recounting of his career as a professional art
forger; de Hory's story serves as the backdrop for a fast-paced, meandering
investigation of the natures of authorship and authenticity, as well as the
basis of the value of art. Director: Orson Welles Not Rated Runtime: 88 minutes
